There is no deb package, sorry.

Sources for compilation are here: svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/qtvlm/code/trunk

Please note that after the make you can run "make instal" to finally instal qtVlm where you want. See the readme.

No problem with this. Acctually I did it before for the old version 3.2-9.
The real trouble I encountered was finding the sources.
Finally I found (the oldest) in a french forum (I think).:santo:

The best way is the following:

Install subversion if this is not already done:

#sudo apt-get install subversion

get the sources:

#svn checkout svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/qtvlm/code/trunk

Compile qtVlm:

#cd trunk
#make

Install it

#make install

El comando a usar es:

svn checkout svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/qtvlm/code/trunk

Recuerda que debes tener también instaladas las dependencias que dicen en la wiki del programa y el paquete subversion.

Ehhmmm.. ¿supongo... usas Linux no? Es que en win no funcionará. No se si hay manera para win.

Para el que tenga que bajarlos desde Windows hay downloaders (descargadores) que lo hacen automáticamente.
Por ejemplo jDownloader.

Hello,

The ways to select an area and to move the map have changed in this version. You can now move the map directly with click and drag, and to select an area you must press <shift> and then click and drag. You can also use the selection button in the toolbar.

Dado que algunos de los que se acercan a qtvlm puede que sean recién iniciados en Linux y puesto que en qtvlm aún no hay otro método de instalarlo que no sea el de compilarlo, he pensado en hacer una pequeña guía para que lo podáis intentar aquellos que no tengáis mucha experiencia con la compilación de programas.

Lo primero es abrir una sesión de terminal pulsando las teclas Ctrl+Alt+t al mismo tiempo.
En la intimidante pantalla vamos a ir introduciendo los comandos que cual "palabras mágicas" harán las tareas que les pedimos.

Para evitar las confusiones escribiendo comandos, os recomiendo encarecidamente que hagáis uso del copiar-pegar. Es decir, copiáis el comando aquí y después lo pegáis en la consola con Ctrl+MayusculasIzq+v. Así evitaremos errores de tecleo.

El primer comando será para instalar todas las "dependencias", es decir aquellas herramientas que necesitaremos para la tarea de compilación:

sudo apt-get install make gcc g++ qt4-qmake qt4-dev-tools socat subversion

Tras un montón de de Letrajas se deben haber instalado las herramientas.

Ahora descargaremos el código fuente, es decir los "ingredientes" del plato que vamos a cocinar:

svn checkout svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/qtvlm/code/trunk

Tras otro montón de mensajes ya debemos tener el código fuente de la última versión. Ahora vamos a "cocinarlos" compilando el programa.

Entramos en la nueva carpeta que nos habrá creado el comando anterior lleno de código fuente, con este comando:

cd trunk

Ahora a cocinar, metemos este comando:

make

Tardará un rato mas o menos grande según la potencia de vuestro procesador. Entre pocos minutos a media hora. Al tiempo aparecerán cosas en la pantalla que parecerán conjuros del mago Merlin. A mi me encanta, es casi hipnótico.:rolleyes:

Cuando finalize solo falta meter este último comando para rematar la instalación:

make install

Tras esto tendréis una carpeta nueva llamada qtvlm en vuestra carpeta personal. Entráis en ella y veréis el binario ejecutable. Solo hay que hacer doble clic sobre el y ya se ejecutará qtvlm.

Otro día os explicare como crear un icono en el escritorio para que sea mas fácil usarlo.

You can "navigate" through the date with the 2 blue arrows around the dropbox that allows to change the time step (like in zygrib). Or you can select a date with the 3rd icon from the left on the toolbar. Or you can "animate" the grib with the play icon (8th icon on the toolbar).

All this does not work?

If you right-click on the toolbar you can select which sub-toolbars are shown or not. The grib one is checked?

Please tell me if the grib toolbar is still shown after you restart qtVlm or if you have to ask for it again. Someone on Mac has reported a similar problem and I would like to know if it's ok for you.

Una duda con la nueva versión 3.4.0

¿Requiere una instalación en un drive USB para equipos Windows de 32 bits?

¿Si la instalo en C: no va a funcionar en un PC a 32?

¿Puedo dejar instalada la versión anterior sin que se me fastidie al probar?

A ver si alguien ha probado ya a hacerlo.

The installator will select automatically 32 or 64 bits depending on your machine. You can force it to 32bits if you want to install it on an USB device and be compatible for both.

You can install it in a separate directory from the previous version and it won't interfere with it (i.e. each installation is not linked in any way with windows registery or such, so they are independent).

I am trying to build qtVlm under Fedora 18. What I have done so far is the following: First I downloaded the "trunk" directory using svn. I have checked that I have all the packages that are needed in order to build qtVlm (in fact, those packages are, if I am not mistaken, the same you need to build zyGrib that I have sucessfully done). Then I moved into the src directory and run make. I got an error because there is no Makefile in the src directory and, therefore, the compiler does not know what to do...

Do you have an idea on how to solve this problem?

Normally you should have a makefile coming with the trunk. It's located in the trunk directory itself, so you should run the compilation from that directory, not src.

Unfortunately the spanish translation has not been updated for a long time. I have send the necessary files to Tropelio (I think) but got no reply... Anyone willing to help?
