02/12/2011After 11½ days at sea, it was a spectacular finish for the first twoARC boats to cross the line in Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia last night, with just over an hour separating the two very different boats.
With favourable conditions for the entire crossing, the Franco-Russian team on mighty 28.7m super-maxi Med Spirit (ex Bols) worked hard to keep up with ARC 2011’s only trimaran, transatlantic race veteran Alain Delhumeau's 15.2m lightweight Rayon Vert, who had taken the lead from the start in Las Palmas on Sunday 20 November.

(el Akilaria40 vakita ha llegado a sta Lucía) Vaquita, first boat in the Racing Division, arrives in St. Lucia
After a phenomenal 2,800 mile passage in typical Trade Wind (read 'fast') conditions, Vaquita arrived in St. Lucia yesterday (Friday) afternoon. The Akalaria 40 is the first boat to cross the finish line in the Racing Division, over a day ahead of their nearest competition
The Akalaria 40 Vaquita blasted her way across the Atlantic, covering the 2,800 nautical mile course in just over 12 days, a magnificent passage for a forty-footer.
Vaquita exceeded 23 knots at times during her surfing runs, and managed to sustain 18-20 in the fresh conditions that made for beautiful sailing on what is shaping up to be a traditional downwind, Trade Wind passage
Vaquita is the first boat to arrive in St. Lucia in the racing division, and is a full 36 hours ahead of the nearest competition, Clem, a Swan 56,
