tu post me ha interesado mucho y he llamado a informacion de Movistar. He tenido que llamar dos veces porque la primera chica no se enteraba de nada e insistia en remitirme a mi agencia de viajes para ver si la ruta del crucero tiene cobertura o no (y no habia manera de salir de alli). El chico que me ha atendido en segundo lugar tampoco sabia mucho, pero al menos era mas espabilado. (me enrollo sobre lo que me ha costado aclararme con los operadores para que la informacion que me han dado quede "en cuarentena"). Me ha dicho que no es Globalstar, sino Thuraya. Que efectivamente, hay que comprar el terminal Thuraya (hace unos meses lo mire y costaba unos 1.000 euros, mas o menos) y activar el roaming. Y entonces como usuario de movistar puedes conectarte a la red de satelite, pagando las tarifas de roaming-satelite (que supongo que deben ser la leche... pero para una emergencia esta bien pagar lo que sea, y lo bueno es que no tienes que darte de alta y pagar mantenimientos en Thuraya, que son muy altos si no estas usandolo constantemente).
Me ha remitido a la
www.thuraya.com, en la que Movistar, Vodaphone y Amena estan en la lista de "roaming partners" y mas o menos confirma la informacion. pego lo que he visto en esta www.

This service will also allow GSM prepaid subscribers to make calls and send SMS when roaming into Thuraya satellite network.

Roaming in Thuraya means: - GSM subscribers with home network enabled roaming service, can roam on Thuraya network using the home GSM SIM card with a Thuraya terminal.
- Thuraya subscribers can roam in any of Thuraya’s operational GSM Roaming Partners network using Thuraya SIM card in any compatible GSM phone.
- Roaming in Thuraya network is only possible with a Thuraya phone on ‘Satellite Mode’.
