App. 2.300 Miles to St. Augustine, USA
More than 48 days, more than 2.600 nautical miles the extreme sailor Sedlacek and his only 4.90 meter small FIPOFIX fight to cross the North Atlantic. During the first 30 days he resisted the coldness, the storms, the giant wave crests and the shower cells followed by doldrums, variable winds and permanent manual handing, which was the first physical test for Sedlacek and made his life on board a torture.
He stayed wet to the skin and manually handed the boat more than 20 hours per day in the unprotected and small cockpit of the FIPOFIX. To set the sails, to optimize the sail trim, to eat, to drink, to navigate manually and to have a short break when it is nearly not possible. This is a daily life of Sedlacek and this routine followed him for approximately 30 days.
Now the skipper Sedlacek has to balance his food stuff due to the prolonged race! He needs to sit between 16 and 20 hours per day at the helm and try to use each wind breeze. At the same time, his fingers, arms, legs and face are painful. Especially the eyes burn very much, they are sensitive to the salt water splash and in addition he has to control himself and count calories……”
The skipper Sedlacek sounds stressed, but at the same time his spirit is combative and unbroken. The 2nd stage of this race will be a subject to a physical and a mental act of violence.
Beside the positive willpower of the skipper, his floating companion, the volcanic-prototype FIPOFIX, which is entirely built by FIPOFIX-UD-high technology shows no signs of fatigue. Only the rudder holder was readjusted by the skipper Sedlacek after a new collision in the sea....
No sé...empieza a preocuparme..
