En los distintos post se han aportado varias soluciones que clarifican el tema del registro de las PLB en España. Sin embargo, en mi opinión, no hay una claridad rotunda en el asunto por lo que he decidido realizar la pregunta a los fabricantes de una de ellas: "MACMURDO".

I am interested in purchasing a PLB, in particular the FastFind 220.

I would like to know if you can clarify the issue of the registration of the beacon.

You yourselves, in your web page, indicate that the registration of the PLB is of vital importance.

I am Spanish and i live in Spain.

In Spain there is only a record "official", associating the beacon to a boat. This record is available on the Ministry of Fomento through the General Direction of the Merchant Navy.

I do not want to associate my PLB a boat, so that there are no more possibilities of registration in Spain.

Is this last correct?

1.- If so, where do I register my PLB?

2.- Is it essential that I buy the PBL in Spain for us the serial number indicate that belongs to this country or, on the contrary, I can buy the PLB in any other country?

I belong to a web-forum of navigators very popular in Spanish "La Taberna del Puerto" where many sailors discussed on various nautical matters. In this forum has raised this question on several occasions and nobody knows how to give a clear and concise answer. There is talk of an English record of the "Maritime and Coastguard Agency", registry in "COSPAS SARSAT", but no one has a definitive answer.

The matter is therefore nothing defined and, given its importance, could you clarify this important part of their rescue equipments?

The PLB is registered to person.

You will need to register this product so they can contact your next of kin and also gain vital information about your location.
