I use three tips to make this technique workable.
First, I find that getting out of, and back into, a
sleeping bag in my cramped bunk below deck is
too much of an effort. It takes too long and has a
tendency to bring me fully awake. I have set up
a sitting hammock in the cockpit, made from a
sail bag. This is a very comfortable place for me to
sleep, facing backwards with my head against the
main hatchway and my bum just slightly above the
cockpit sole. In this position I barely need to
move to look all around the horizon. I can also
reach the autopilot and all three sheets to make
small adjustments if necessary. Modern
singlehanded racing boats have built cockpit
houses to cover the skipper next to the hatchway
for the same purpose. I have taken voyages of
up to five days sleeping only in my hammock.

Yo pienso que una idea como la de el, en la cual el "sillón" lo colgamos de la capota, nos permitirá tener disponible un lugar cómodo donde hacer las guardias. Si además lo podemos colgar un poco más hacia proa el cuerpo quedaría en el acceso al interior y todavía más protegido de la interperie.
