Unas rondas

I'm completely against boat licensing.

Why?

1) Government controls it. Forget about it. There's too much government interference in everyone's lives now, including (and ESPECIALLY in Europe). The US is right behind.

2) More money coming out of our pockets and going, guess where? to the GOVERNMENT. You have to hire more "bureaucrats" to do the work, they are self-inflated, no-gooders usually who think themselves better than "everyone else" because they work for the government. (Believe me, after working for the government for over 30 years either as military or contractor, I have seen ENOUGH of these asses).

3) Licensing does NOT prevent accidents.

4) Licensing does NOT make people "safer" (I am as safe as I need to be, I protect MYSELF, I don't NEED the government to do it for me).

5) Licensing is money out of our pockets that might be better spent on, say, safety gear instead of a piece of paper.

6) A piece of paper is ONLY as good as the government it's issued by. In the states it would be left to the STATE governments to implement with random procedures that none of the other states would recognize at first. The Feds would only step in to get their share of money and give the work to the states. Dumb idea.

7) Licensing is FORCED upon you... it is not a voluntary thing. Takes your freedom away from you.

8) Government rules (which are different from every OTHER government rules everywhere ELSE in the world) change. If you're not "in town" and connected to the internet like most of us, you're a "real cruiser" - one that goes everywhere, stops in many places, doesn't pay attention to the news and really doesn't care, how are you going to know you're in violation of a rule when they change it, take your license, take your boat and arrest you until after the fact???

Rules are made by anal retentive people who want to control others. Licensing is a method by which governments can control people, and people who force licensing on others are nothing more than wanna-be bureaucrats with want to control others.

Besides you're not actually seeking licensing for BOATS, you're seeking licensing for SKIPPERS.

That means anyone that drives your boat, every person sitting at the helm, or doing anything on that vessel who is taking charge for that period of time SHOULD BE LICENSED EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE SKIPPER.

That's different from a car or other motor vehicle because normally you can just STOP and pull over. On a boat, if the skipper is incapacitated SOMEONE has to drive the damned thing.

No ladies and gentlemen, and no offense Alex, but anyone that WANTS licensing is actually seeking to remove freedoms from people. Not give them freedom to come and go.

Ridiculous concept in America. Ridiculous concept ANY WHERE people enjoy freedom.
