We have all spent anxious passages wondering whether we will end up snagging the line of an invisible lobster pot. They are almost all, famously, unmarked and unlit in our sailing waters. Following various stalled initiatives to reduce this menace, the Cruising Association has launched a petition on the No.10 Website to bring it to the attention of the Government and Parliament.

"We, the undersigned, urge the Minister of State (DEFRA) to improve the way static fishing gear is marked for the safety of all small craft at sea. The current, voluntary, guidance is not adequate. We ask that DEFRA seeks views regarding enforceable regulation, among other options.”
