El primer cinturón VAN ALLEN está entre los 1000 y los 5000 por eso los satélites iridium orbitan en LEO de 780 km. El 2º cinturón va de los 20.000 a 25.000 km para evitar los posibles daños los sat GPS GALILEO etc orbitan en MEO de unos 28.000 km .

Y parece ser que estos cinturones son extraordinariamente dinámicos, su posición y forma varía enormemente.
