We have received many inquiries such as yours recently.
We understand that there are many Orca interactions occurring, which can be very problematic for sailing vessels as rudders or keels can be damaged. In the worst cases this may be quite dangerous for crews.

I have attached an American government (NOAA) report that shows that a 10 kHz frequency Pinger has been effective at deterring Orca's form approaching Pingers.
Please refer to page 36.

Based on the little information available, it appears that killer whales will avoid an area within about 4 km of an AHD producing a 10 kHz signal at a source level of 194 dB re 1 µPa at 1 m (Morton and Symonds 2002, NMFS 2005a).

We supply large ocean racing yachts in the IMOCA and Ultime classes with very powerful low frequency "Whaleshields" to help reduce the possibility of collisions with large whale species, in particular Humpback whales.
I have attahced a technical data sheet for you.

We have recently added a 10 kHz Orcashied to our line of products, to help meet the demand from yacht owners to protect thier vessels from interactions with Orcas.
We will provide technical data documents soon.

Because the Orcashield Pinger will develop an amplitude of 150db+ the 1.5v c cell battery life may be only 3 to 4 days.
I expect this might be acceptable for yachts as they will pass through the area of concern quite quickly.

In terms ofdeploying the Pinger, it could simply be hung off the bow of the boat on a weighted line to ensure the Pinger remains at least 1m under the surface.

We can offer this Pinger to distributors at 200.00 Euros each
