Dos marineros de la Golden Globe Race honrados por el Cruising Club of America. Les Sables d´Olonne, miércoles 19 de febrero de 2020. El Cruising Club of America otorgó al ganador de GGR 2018-2019 Jean-Luc Van den Heede con la Medalla Blue Water 2019 por sus logros en la navegación en solitario, en particular seis circunnavegaciones en solitario, incluida la circunnavegación más rápida contra los vientos dominantes y su victoria en la primera edición de la Golden Globe Race. DAMIEN GUILLOU AND PRB ENTER THE GOLDEN GLOBE RACE 2022
Dateline: Les Sables d´Olonne, MARCH 18, 2021 Damien Guillou is preparing to take up an extraordinary challenge under the colors of PRB. At 38, the Breton will live alone at sea for more than 200 days for a round the world nonstop, without assistance and without modern means of communication, the Golden Globe Race. Faced with competitors who, like him, take up this crazy bet, Damien will make his way with the sextant! The sailor, trained in Olympic sailing (optimist, laser, 49er) and Figaro knows everything about modern monohulls. Mi favorito...humilde, duro, con gran experiencia en la vela oceánica... No pudo participar en la anterior por falta de tiempo y recursos...pero para esta edición esta preparado... Buena gente... Que bien que se empiece a hablar de ésta magnífica, única, arriesgada, dura AVENTURA....de las que ya NO quedan!!!!... Ya cuento con que aparecerán por aquí, en este foro, los que NO les gusta...los que la consideran una temeridad, los que descalificaran a los que la organizan...pero yo...estoy deseando que empiece..yo..y miles y miles de aficionados en todo el mundo, yo y muchos de los más afamados navegantes oceánicos, que ya han declarado públicamente su admiración y respeto por los que se lanzan a esta vuelta al mundo...con barcos al alcance de muchos navegantes, sin presupuestos millonarios.. Siempre al lado de los que sueñan y luchan por realizar esos sueños...que aunque difíciles, casi imposibles...con mucho riesgo, como este de la golden globe, sueños son...y...la vida es corta para no intentarlo... Homenaje por todo lo alto a los pioneros de la vela oceanica en solitario...a Sir Robin Robin knox Johnston, a Bernard Moitissier...homenaje a esos barcos de quilla corrida, lentos, inestables, inseguros...pero duros en su construcción y que, en ese momento, eran lo mejor que había.... Homenaje a esos medios para navegar, para situarse...tan precarios, tan difíciles...como el Sextante, el piloto de viento...la corredera walker, las radios HF....las cartas de navegacion en papel... Vuelta a las esencias..a los primeros pasos de la navegacion oceánica... Difícil...si...temeraria...también....peroooooo... porque no hacerlo?... Claro que si...ánimo, suerte...respeto y admiración a los que se atreven...por mi parte, al menos..valientes...temerarios ??....si, sin duda.... Bueno recupero el hilo de 2018 y es que sigue la regata cuando ya Markuay ha abierto el hilo de la Golden Globe 2022.
El caso es que el patrón australiano Mark Sinclair quiere terminar su gira mundial Partiendo el 1 de julio de 2018 durante la primera edición de la Golden Globe Race, el navegante Mark Sinclair había hecho escala en ruta, en Adelaida, Australia, en diciembre de 2018. Tres años después del día siguiente de su escala en Adelaida, decidió zarpar desde Australia para completar el circuito, a Les Sables. El hidrógrafo que navegó en la Armada australiana quiere poner fin a su aventura náutica. Decidió partir el domingo 5 de diciembre. Por lo tanto, le quedará doblar el Cabo de Hornos, unir el Pacífico y el Atlántico arriba para completar su curso. Bravo por él.
