Marco informed us that he had heard that the giant French trimaran Banque Populaire passed south of us doing 43 knots on her attempt to break the round the world speed record! That is quite a phenomenal speed and it seems amazing that it was only a few years ago that we set the record at 58 days with Steve Fossett aboard Cheyenne (ex- Playstation). As far as I remember our best speed on Cheyenne during that passage was about 39 knots, and that only briefly.
